World Food Day: A Celebration of Health and Joy

Every year, World Food Day reminds us that access to healthy food is a right, not a privilege. For Feed the Hungry San Miguel, it is a day to honor the communities that work tirelessly to improve the nutrition and wellbeing of their children.

This year, World Food Day’s theme was “Hand in Hand for Better Food and a Better Future.”

Fittingly, on October 16, we celebrated World Food Day by bringing together students, families, educators, and volunteers for a day of learning, creativity, and fun. Activities included:

  • A children’s drawing contest, with three talented student winners
  • A delicious shared pozole lunch
  • Healthy fruit desserts, encouraging nutritious habits
  • Plenty of physical activity, reminding children that movement is part of a healthy lifestyle

“On World Food Day, we celebrate nourishment, creativity, and the joy that healthy food brings to children” commented Nutritionist Claudia Luna.

A Shared Commitment to Healthy Futures

We extend our heartfelt appreciation to the entire Feed the Hungry San Miguel team of chefs, nutritionists, warehouse staff, and operations personnel, as well as our volunteers and community partners. Their dedication makes it possible to provide children an extra incentive to attend classes and the nutrition they need to focus on learning.

“More than five thousand healthy meals are served every school day, thanks to our team and volunteers” said Veronica Agundis, Executor Director.
