A Letter from Our President

Dear Friends of Feed the Hungry San Miguel,

As we enjoy the beautiful fall weather here in San Miguel de Allende, we reflect on what has truly been a momentous year for Feed the Hungry San Miguel. We have continued to deliver nutritious meals to all the schools and charities we serve—nearly 5,000 children across 51 locations. Our Programa de Nutrición para la Primera Infancia remains a lifeline for the most vulnerable, supporting more than 200 young children in 19 communities, some more than an hour from our warehouse. None of this would be possible without your generosity.

A very special thank-you goes to Bob and Lucy Berglund for their continued support of the Alonso Yáñez school as Kitchen Angels. The Kitchen Angel Program is one of the cornerstones of Feed the Hungry, giving donors a direct, meaningful way to support and connect with a community. We encourage everyone to consider becoming a Kitchen Angel—the joy of visiting our schools and meeting the children and teachers is truly unforgettable.

Once again, our own paola juarez and our remarkable staff delivered an outstanding Walk-Run-Bike for Food Challenge event at Viñedo Dos Buhos. More than 500 participants enjoyed a day of exercise, wonderful food, and fun prizes. We extend our heartfelt appreciation to the team at Viñedo Dos Buhos for their incredible generosity, and to our long-standing corporate sponsors, Jim Castro and Wesley Gleason of Engel & Völkers, for their unwavering support over so many years.

Our Fashion Feeds event at the Rosewood’s Las Pirules restaurant was another great success, showcasing talented local designers and models for an afternoon of beauty and creativity. We are deeply grateful to The Agency for serving as the main sponsor, and to the Rosewood for their exceptional partnership.

This year also brought big transitions. When our Operations Director olivia muñiz retired this summer after 30 years of dedicated service, she left a tremendous legacy. We wish her a joyful and restful retirement. At the same time, we are delighted to welcome Verónica Agundis as our new Executive Director. Verónica brings enormous energy, warmth, and a wealth of experience from her time as a Diputada here in Guanajuato. She has been hard at work visiting our schools, collaborating with our staff, and ensuring our programs continue without missing a beat.

This will be my final President’s Letter, as I have chosen to retire after three very productive years at the helm. I had originally intended to step down after my first year, but there was still much important work to be done, and it has been my honor to see it through.

We will announce our new President at the start of 2026, and I have every confidence that Feed the Hungry San Miguel will continue to thrive under their leadership.

Serving this organization has been one of the great privileges of my life. I have treasured getting to know the communities we support—meeting the children, parents, teachers, and volunteers who are the heart of our mission. Their courage and hope have inspired me every single day.

I have also had the privilege of meeting and speaking with many of our donors, in San Miguel de Allende and beyond. Their encouragement, generosity, and belief in our work have been essential to sustaining our mission. We simply could not do this without them.

While I am stepping down from the presidency, I will remain on the Board, continuing to support the modernization of our IT and infrastructure. I look forward to helping ensure a smooth transition and watching our next President lead Feed the Hungry into an exciting new chapter.

Thank you for the trust you have placed in me, and for your unwavering commitment to the children and families we serve.

Finally, we ask for your continued support, as the need is greater than ever. With more than 2,000,000 people returning to Mexico after many years in the United States, the demand for our programs continues to grow. At the same time, the cost of food, fuel, and supplies has risen sharply, and next year we face a government-mandated 10% salary increase for all staff.

These are truly challenging times. Without your generosity, we may be forced to make difficult decisions about how many children and families we can continue to serve. Your support ensures that we can keep delivering nutritious meals to the communities that depend on us most.

Atentamente,

Mike Taylor
President, Feed the Hungry San Miguel, Inc.
