Honoring Our Outstanding Volunteers

Every week at Feed the Hungry San Miguel, thousands of children across 39 school communities receive the nourishment they need to grow, learn, and thrive. Behind every meal delivered is an extraordinary network of volunteers who give their time, energy, and dedication to make our mission possible. This season, we were honored to shine a spotlight on a few of these remarkable individuals whose service has made an exceptional impact.

A Special Celebration at Hacienda Santa Clara

On a Saturday morning this fall, greeted by the warm welcome of the Marvin family at the beautiful Hacienda Santa Clara, we gathered to celebrate the men and women who help move our mission forward. The setting could not have been more fitting, as the event brought together volunteers, supporters, and team members in a moment of gratitude and reflection.

With heartfelt words and joyful applause, we recognized three outstanding volunteers whose commitment has truly stood out during the 2024-2025 school season.

Drivers of the Year: Graham and Lizzy Morgan

If you have ever witnessed the early morning bustle at our warehouse, you know that our drivers are the unsung heroes of the operations team. Rain or shine, Graham and Lizzy Morgan hit the road week after week, ensuring that food supplies reach our kitchens safely and on time. Their reliability, kindness, and willingness to go above and beyond have earned them the well-deserved title of Drivers of the Year.

For Graham and Lizzy, volunteering is about more than transporting ingredients. It is about knowing that their work helps nourish thousands of children. Their consistency and positive energy set the tone for the entire team, and we are deeply grateful for their indispensable service.

Packer of the Year: Sharon Welborn

Before a single delivery leaves the warehouse, every food item must be weighed, sorted, and assembled with precision. That is where volunteers like Sharon Welborn make a world of difference. Sharon was honored as our Packer of the Year for her dedication and attention to detail. She approaches every packing day with enthusiasm and a deep sense of purpose, ensuring that each school receives exactly what it needs for the week ahead.

Her commitment helps keep operations smooth and efficient, and her warm presence inspires everyone around her. Sharon represents the very best of our volunteer spirit.

A Community United in Compassion

This recognition ceremony was beautifully organized by our Volunteer Coordinator Jonna Stratton, whose leadership continues to strengthen and unify our volunteer community. Jonna brings people together, fosters teamwork, and ensures that every volunteer feels seen, supported, and valued.

Thanks to volunteers like Graham, Lizzy, Sharon, and the many others who serve quietly and consistently behind the scenes, Feed the Hungry San Miguel is able to pack and deliver more than ten tons of food every week. This extraordinary effort produces more than 100,000 meals every month, reaching schools and communities that rely on our support.

These numbers tell a powerful story, but the true impact can be found in the smiles of children who arrive at school knowing they will be nourished, the parents who feel relief knowing their children are fed, and the community cooks who gain new skills and confidence as they serve.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all our volunteers who embody the compassion, generosity, and community spirit that define Feed the Hungry. Your dedication fuels our mission and strengthens the lives of thousands of families across San Miguel de Allende.

Thank you for showing us what it means to serve with heart.

Thank you for helping us nourish hope, one meal at a time.
