Para nuestra primera edici\u00f3n de bolet\u00edn informativo de 2023, nos complace presentar a David Bryant. David se uni\u00f3 a nosotros hace m\u00e1s de nueve a\u00f1os, y ahora es una cara familiar, ya que es un habitual en nuestro centro de distribuci\u00f3n, empaca alimentos todas las semanas, adem\u00e1s de llenar sobres para campa\u00f1as de correo y ayudar en nuestro Walk-Run-Bike for Food. recaudaci\u00f3n de fondos anual. Cu\u00e9ntanos un poco sobre ti.<\/strong><\/p>

Crec\u00ed en Texas. Comenz\u00f3 un negocio de revestimiento de pisos despu\u00e9s de graduarse de la Universidad A&I de Texas. Despu\u00e9s de vender mi negocio, me convert\u00ed en gerente de ventas y representante del fabricante. Empec\u00e9 a mudarme a M\u00e9xico hace 30 a\u00f1os. Vivir\u00eda y trabajar\u00eda en M\u00e9xico durante algunos a\u00f1os y luego ir\u00eda y volver\u00eda de M\u00e9xico a Texas a Bend, Oreg\u00f3n. Cuando me jubil\u00e9 hace 11 a\u00f1os, hice de San Miguel mi hogar.<\/em><\/p>

Estoy divorciado y tengo una hija, un yerno, dos nietas y una hermana. Mi nieta mayor es estudiante de primer a\u00f1o en la universidad. Todos residen en Texas.<\/em><\/p>

Me encanta viajar por todo M\u00e9xico. Es un pa\u00eds tan vasto e interesante con una hermosa historia y cultura. Mis vacaciones so\u00f1adas son explorar m\u00e1s de Am\u00e9rica del Sur. He escalado Machu Picchu y explorado parte de la Amazon\u00eda peruana, junto con Bolivia. Hay mucho m\u00e1s que quiero descubrir en Argentina y Brasil.<\/em><\/p>

Soy un fan\u00e1tico ac\u00e9rrimo de los Dallas Cowboys desde el primer d\u00eda, en las buenas y en las malas. \u00a1All\u00e1 vamos, playoffs! Disfruto de un juego amistoso de p\u00f3quer con amigos compartiendo cerveza, tequila y cigarros. Me encanta la buena comedia, as\u00ed que The Birdcage ser\u00eda mi pel\u00edcula favorita.<\/em>.<\/p>

\u00bfQu\u00e9 haces como voluntario con Feed the Hungry?<\/strong><\/p>

Comenc\u00e9 como voluntario hace m\u00e1s de nueve a\u00f1os como conductor, con Jayne Clark. Fui empacador de comida de los s\u00e1bados por un tiempo, y durante los \u00faltimos a\u00f1os he sido empacador de alimentos de los lunes. Tambi\u00e9n soy voluntario para tantos eventos especiales y eventos para recaudar fondos como puedo.<\/em>.

\u00bfPor qu\u00e9 es importante para ti ser voluntario de Feed the Hungry?<\/strong><\/p>

Es importante para m\u00ed ser voluntario porque me da una sensaci\u00f3n de logro y de retribuci\u00f3n a esta maravillosa comunidad. Y saber que estoy ayudando a ni\u00f1os necesitados.<\/em><\/p>

Cu\u00e9ntenos sobre un momento que fue especialmente significativo para usted como voluntario con Feed the Hungry.<\/strong><\/p>

Es muy gratificante ver las sonrisas en los rostros de los ni\u00f1os cuando entregamos alimentos a las escuelas. La mayor emoci\u00f3n es cuando entregamos en el D\u00eda de los Reyes Magos, trayendo regalos de \u00fatiles escolares. Se acercan a ti y te abrazan. Puedes ver lo felices y agradecidos que est\u00e1n.<\/em><\/p>

\u00bfC\u00f3mo te gusta trabajar con los otros voluntarios?<\/strong><\/p>

Contamos con un gran equipo que se suma a todas las causas y necesidades de la organizaci\u00f3n. Acabamos de trabajar en una campa\u00f1a de env\u00edo de correos en la que nos juntamos para llenar miles de sobres para enviar por correo con el fin de recaudar fondos de simpatizantes de todo Canad\u00e1, Estados Unidos y M\u00e9xico. Y tenemos una gran participaci\u00f3n en los eventos para recaudar fondos para las comidas escolares de los ni\u00f1os.<\/em><\/p>

\u00bfQu\u00e9 ha aprendido sobre usted y los dem\u00e1s a trav\u00e9s del voluntariado con nosotros?<\/strong><\/p>

Pasamos un buen rato juntos. Aprendemos mucho el uno del otro y nos hacemos amigos. Todos nos vamos sintiendo que hemos logrado algo bueno.<\/em><\/p>

\u00bfCu\u00e1l ha sido la mayor sorpresa del voluntariado?<\/strong><\/p>

Los amigos que he hecho. Tenemos nuestro \u201cpod\u201d, y despu\u00e9s del lunes David, Denise, Trudi y yo vamos a hacer las maletas a diferentes lugares para almorzar y tomar una cerveza bien merecida. Hemos agregado a\u00fan m\u00e1s amigos \u00faltimamente.<\/em><\/p>

Si quisiera animar a alguien m\u00e1s a ser voluntario en Feed the Hungry, \u00bfqu\u00e9 le dir\u00eda?<\/strong><\/p>

La mayor\u00eda de los que vivimos aqu\u00ed estamos jubilados y tenemos mucho tiempo libre, as\u00ed que animo a cualquiera a que venga y se una a nosotros, compru\u00e9belo. Recibir\u00e1s m\u00e1s de lo que das. Tendr\u00e1 una sensaci\u00f3n de logro y entrega de s\u00ed mismo al ayudar a estos ni\u00f1os.<\/em><\/p>
