Los nutricionistas autorizados de Feed the Hungry desempe\u00f1an un papel invaluable en apoyo de nuestra misi\u00f3n. Una de sus muchas responsabilidades es visitar cada comunidad donde operamos una cocina escolar, para evaluar el bienestar de los ni\u00f1os que reciben nuestras comidas.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Por lo general, las medidas de altura y peso se toman y registran al principio y al final de cada a\u00f1o escolar, para que tengamos poblaciones comparables.<\/p>

Estas evaluaciones de salud tienen tres prop\u00f3sitos:<\/p>

  1. El proceso mide el efecto del programa alimentario de FTH. Por ejemplo, en el primer a\u00f1o de alimentaci\u00f3n en el kinder (preescolar) de Nueva Pantoja, pudimos confirmar que el porcentaje de ni\u00f1os con condici\u00f3n f\u00edsica normal aument\u00f3 de 39% a 53%.<\/li>
  2. El proceso de medici\u00f3n permite a los nutricionistas buscar otros signos de desnutrici\u00f3n en los ni\u00f1os, como apat\u00eda, falta de pigmento en el cabello, manchas blancas en la piel y u\u00f1as fr\u00e1giles. Estas condiciones son evidencia de deficiencias de prote\u00ednas, vitaminas y minerales. Luego ofrecen asesoramiento a las familias con los casos m\u00e1s graves.<\/li>
  3. Los datos nos ayudan a determinar qu\u00e9 talleres de nutrici\u00f3n se necesitan en cada comunidad. Por ejemplo, servimos a 8 comunidades en las que m\u00e1s del 50% de los ni\u00f1os tienen bajo peso. Su porcentaje de sobrepeso promedio es 8.6%. Sin embargo, en otras 8 comunidades, m\u00e1s del 25% de los ni\u00f1os tienen sobrepeso, aunque casi el 30% (en promedio) tambi\u00e9n tienen bajo peso.<\/li><\/ol>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

    Esta discrepancia subraya el hecho de que los ni\u00f1os que no tienen hambre a\u00fan pueden estar desnutridos.     Los talleres de nutrici\u00f3n y las clases de cocina de Feed the Hungry para madres est\u00e1n dise\u00f1ados para ayudarlas a aprender la importancia de las comidas balanceadas.     En las comunidades que participan en nuestro Programa de Nutrici\u00f3n Infantil Temprana, se realizan mediciones a los ni\u00f1os de 6 meses a 3 a\u00f1os, as\u00ed como a sus madres.<\/p>

    Se toman las siguientes medidas para las madres: peso, altura y circunferencia de mu\u00f1eca, brazo y cadera.<\/p>

    Esto se utiliza para determinar su IMC (\u00edndice de masa corporal) para determinar si existe riesgo cardiovascular.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

    Los ni\u00f1os son evaluados por peso, altura y per\u00edmetro cef\u00e1lico. La circunferencia del brazo se mide para determinar el riesgo de desnutrici\u00f3n, con base en los \u00edndices peso para la talla, peso para la edad y talla para la edad.<\/p>

    Restablecimiento de las l\u00edneas de base de la salud de los estudiantes<\/strong><\/p>

    Nuestro plan es reanudar las evaluaciones de salud de los estudiantes de las escuelas primarias y de k\u00ednder cuando las escuelas vuelvan a abrir. Despu\u00e9s de m\u00e1s de un a\u00f1o de cierre de escuelas, los estudiantes que se medir\u00e1n no ser\u00e1n los mismos ni\u00f1os que los grupos anteriores, por lo que tendremos que comenzar de nuevo estableciendo mediciones de referencia. Esto requerir\u00e1 capacitaci\u00f3n y coordinaci\u00f3n de voluntarios para ayudar a nuestros nutricionistas y pasantes del personal.<\/p>

    Los nutricionistas de FTH est\u00e1n capacitados para trabajar directamente con los ni\u00f1os de una manera tranquila y compasiva, al mismo tiempo que hacen que sea una experiencia divertida para los m\u00e1s peque\u00f1os. Los voluntarios ayudar\u00e1n registrando las medidas tomadas por los nutricionistas e ingresando la informaci\u00f3n en nuestra base de datos.<\/p>

    Los informes de nutrici\u00f3n resultantes no solo nos ayudan a medir el \u00e9xito de los programas de comidas escolares y brindan informaci\u00f3n sobre las \u00e1reas de preocupaci\u00f3n dentro de cada comunidad.
