Queridos amigos de Feed the Hungry San Miguel:<\/p>

Winter is only a memory as we race toward the hot season here in San Miguel de Allende. But I recall first being elected president of Feed the Hungry San Miguel, just last December. It was a solemn moment for me to step into the shoes of Mike Taylor, whose last year as president, one could argue, was perhaps his most successful.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Mike added a new Executive Director, led the transition from our legacy systems into a modern Enterprise Resource Planning platform, and shepherded the organization through a year of very successful fundraising events, all while delivering on every Feed the Hungry mission and operational need. But it was also a beautiful moment for me, as I felt comforted and secure in the knowledge that I was inheriting such a strong, empowered board and a venerable operation, unmatched both in scope and need.<\/p>

Our new Executive Director, Veronica Agundis, is building trust throughout our organization, the school communities we serve, and throughout the State of Guanajuato\u2019s educational administration, increasing awareness of the needs of the children we serve. But most importantly, she is building a family we are all a part of as employees, volunteers, donors, and the many school administrators, school families, and educational authorities. We all appreciate the kitchen table topic of food, especially food insecurity! As a family, Veronica draws us all together for that all-important discussion: how to best take care of the less fortunate and hungry children in our region.<\/p>

There is also a beautiful community of volunteers at Feed the Hungry. Simply put, we could not deliver on our mission if it were not for the many volunteers who every Monday pack dry goods, fresh fruits, vegetables, and a variety of fresh meats and dairy products for each remote school kitchen we serve. Then early on Tuesday mornings, more volunteers drive through our warehouse, load crates of food into their vehicles, and deliver them out into the campo<\/i> to far-flung schools. Former board member Jonna Stratton leads coordination of all the volunteer produce packers on Monday. Chip Swab leads coordination of all the delivery drivers. Rosetta Harrop leads all volunteers of dry goods packers.<\/p>

During the recent tumultuous weekend of threatened and real cartel violence across Mexico, all these volunteers and Veronica Agundis\u2019 staff decided to come to work that following Monday morning, despite personal concerns, because school children depended on them for food.<\/p>

That\u2019s who we are at Feed the Hungry San Miguel. I could not be prouder to work alongside each person who helps to deliver our mission.<\/p>

Please join me in supporting Feed the Hungry San Miguel, whether by volunteering or donating. We welcome your help in our efforts to remove food insecurity from the lives of so many needy children, and all of the other beneficiaries of our food and education programs.<\/p>
