Los primeros a\u00f1os de vida de un ni\u00f1o forman la base de su futuro. Para beb\u00e9s y ni\u00f1os peque\u00f1os \nde entre seis meses y tres a\u00f1os, una nutrici\u00f3n adecuada no solo es vital para el crecimiento, sino \ntambi\u00e9n para desarrollar resiliencia, fortalecer el sistema inmunol\u00f3gico y promover el bienestar a \nlargo plazo.<\/p>

El Programa de Nutrici\u00f3n en la Primera Infancia de Feed the Hungry San Miguel ayuda a \nconstruir esa base esencial. Cada despensa entregada y cada taller o visita domiciliaria reflejan el compromiso continuo de apoyar a los ni\u00f1os durante la etapa m\u00e1s cr\u00edtica de su desarrollo. Los \u00faltimos dos meses han sido un periodo de crecimiento, mayor acercamiento con las familias y una comprensi\u00f3n m\u00e1s profunda de la realidad nutricional en la primera infancia.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Ampliando nuestro alcance donde m\u00e1s \nimporta<\/strong>
El Programa de Nutrici\u00f3n en la Primera Infancia atiende actualmente a 19 comunidades rurales y \nbeneficia a 203 ni\u00f1os y cerca de 200 madres. Comunidades como Pe\u00f1a Blanca, Clavellinas y \nAlonso Y\u00e1\u00f1ez siguen teniendo el mayor n\u00famero de familias inscritas, lo que refleja tanto el nivel \nde necesidad como la fuerte participaci\u00f3n de los cuidadores.<\/p>

Durante septiembre, el programa realiz\u00f3 un amplio ciclo de estudios socioecon\u00f3micos y visitas \ndomiciliarias. Estas evaluaciones consideraron las condiciones del hogar, acceso a los alimentos, \nnivel de vulnerabilidad y el bienestar materno. Este riguroso proceso de acreditaci\u00f3n garantiza \nque las familias que reciben apoyo sean aquellas que enfrentan el mayor riesgo nutricional \ndurante la primera infancia.<\/p>

Dos comunidades, San Isidro de la Ca\u00f1ada y Angostura, fueron transferidas al Programa de \nAlimentaci\u00f3n Extendida cuando disminuy\u00f3 el n\u00famero de beb\u00e9s elegibles. Este ajuste permite que el Programa de Nutrici\u00f3n en la Primera Infancia permanezca enfocado exclusivamente en los ni\u00f1os que requieren intervenci\u00f3n temprana.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Un panorama claro de la nutrici\u00f3n en la primera infancia<\/strong>
En septiembre y octubre, se llev\u00f3 a cabo el ciclo semestral de mediciones antropom\u00e9tricas de los \nni\u00f1os inscritos. Estas evaluaciones detalladas consideran peso, talla, circunferencia braquial \nmedia, circunferencia cef\u00e1lica, pliegue cut\u00e1neo tricipital y signos cl\u00ednicos visibles de deficiencias \nnutricionales.<\/p>

Los resultados ofrecen una mirada honesta y realista al estado nutricional de los ni\u00f1os m\u00e1s \npeque\u00f1os de nuestras comunidades rurales.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Resultados de 194 ni\u00f1os medidos:<\/strong><\/p>

  • 42 por ciento se encuentra dentro de rangos nutricionales normales<\/li>
  • 14 por ciento presenta desnutrici\u00f3n leve<\/li>
  • 19 por ciento presenta desnutrici\u00f3n moderada<\/li>
  • 10 por ciento presenta desnutrici\u00f3n severa<\/li>
  • 10 por ciento est\u00e1 en riesgo de desnutrici\u00f3n<\/li>
  • Un peque\u00f1o porcentaje muestra se\u00f1ales tempranas de sobrealimentaci\u00f3n<\/li><\/ul>

    Estos datos revelan que m\u00e1s de la mitad de los ni\u00f1os del programa est\u00e1n desnutridos o en riesgo de desnutrici\u00f3n. Las nutri\u00f3logas tambi\u00e9n documentaron indicadores comunes como cabello quebradizo o seco, leuconiquia (manchas o decoloraci\u00f3n en las u\u00f1as), piel agrietada, mala higiene bucal y episodios frecuentes de enfermedades respiratorias o gastrointestinales. Estos signos subrayan la complejidad de los desaf\u00edos que enfrentan muchas familias.<\/p>

    Cada caso de desnutrici\u00f3n moderada y severa ahora cuenta con un plan de seguimiento \npersonalizado, con monitoreo cercano y orientaci\u00f3n para las madres y cuidadores.<\/p>

    Despensas nutritivas dise\u00f1adas para generar \nimpacto<\/strong>
    Cada mes, las familias reciben una Despensa de Primera Infancia cuidadosamente dise\u00f1ada que \nmantiene un costo m\u00e1ximo de 250 pesos y garantiza un alto valor nutricional. Estas despensas est\u00e1n equilibradas para incluir cantidades adecuadas de prote\u00edna, fibra, vitaminas y minerales, y toman en cuenta la disponibilidad estacional.<\/p>

    Una despensa t\u00edpica incluye granos como arroz, pasta y trigo inflado; leguminosas como frijol \nnegro y lentejas; leche como fuente de prote\u00edna de origen animal; y frutas y verduras frescas \ncomo pl\u00e1tano, mel\u00f3n, zanahorias, pepino, calabaza y chayote.<\/p>

    En septiembre se entregaron 336 despensas y en octubre 434. El aumento refleja tanto el \ncrecimiento en la inscripci\u00f3n al programa como las mayores necesidades de los hogares. A partir de octubre, el equipo de nutrici\u00f3n comenz\u00f3 a preparar todas las despensas en el Centro de Distribuci\u00f3n de Feed the Hungry para mejorar el control de calidad, coordinar mejor con el equipo de Operaciones y apoyar niveles de producci\u00f3n que van de 400 a 950 despensas cada mes, seg\u00fan el calendario de entregas.<\/p>

    La educaci\u00f3n es un componente fundamental del Programa de Nutrici\u00f3n en la Primera Infancia. \nDurante septiembre y octubre, el equipo facilit\u00f3 m\u00e1s de 20 talleres y actividades interactivas para \nmadres y cuidadores. Estos talleres est\u00e1n dise\u00f1ados para ser participativos, accesibles y \npr\u00e1cticos, de manera que los asistentes adquieran habilidades que puedan aplicar de inmediato en \ncasa.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

    Los temas incluyeron vitaminas y micronutrientes, pr\u00e1cticas de hidrataci\u00f3n mediante el modelo \nde la \u201cJarra del Buen Beber\u201d, composici\u00f3n correcta de la dieta, alimentos funcionales, fibra y \ndigesti\u00f3n, nutrici\u00f3n durante el embarazo, lactancia, alergias alimentarias y prevenci\u00f3n de la \ndesnutrici\u00f3n. Muchos talleres incluyeron demostraciones de cocina, juegos interactivos, \nrepresentaciones teatrales y din\u00e1micas colaborativas.<\/p>

    Comunidades como Clavellinas, Campana, Nuevo Pantoja y San Francisco mostraron especialmente fuerte participaci\u00f3n y entusiasmo. Estos momentos de aprendizaje fortalecen a las familias y generan h\u00e1bitos positivos que perduran m\u00e1s all\u00e1 de cualquier entrega de despensa.<\/p>

    Seguimos fortaleciendo y perfeccionando los procesos operativos del programa. Las nutri\u00f3logas y pasantes est\u00e1n ahora completamente capacitadas para certificar estudios socioecon\u00f3micos y realizar mediciones antropom\u00e9tricas con precisi\u00f3n y cuidado. La preparaci\u00f3n de las despensas dentro de nuestras instalaciones ha mejorado la eficiencia y coordinaci\u00f3n. Las visitas domiciliarias y seguimientos comunitarios est\u00e1n reforzando la confianza y el compromiso a largo plazo con las familias.<\/p>

    Esta combinaci\u00f3n de experiencia profesional y acompa\u00f1amiento compasivo es lo que hace que el \nprograma sea verdaderamente transformador para las comunidades rurales.<\/p>

    Mirando hacia adelante con prop\u00f3sito<\/strong>
    En los pr\u00f3ximos meses, el Programa de Nutrici\u00f3n en la Primera Infancia se enfocar\u00e1 en el seguimiento individualizado de todos los casos de desnutrici\u00f3n moderada y severa, adem\u00e1s de ampliar los talleres sobre prevenci\u00f3n de la desnutrici\u00f3n y h\u00e1bitos de higiene. El equipo continuar\u00e1 evaluando el aprendizaje de las madres y cuidadores, y realizar\u00e1 una segunda ronda de mediciones antropom\u00e9tricas en un plazo de seis meses para monitorear el progreso y actualizar los planes de intervenci\u00f3n.<\/p>

    Este trabajo se basa en una convicci\u00f3n simple.
